Warsaw sightseeing

When you first come to Warsaw, regardless of the time of year, it will strike you as a very green city. Despite the fact that more and more new highrise hotels and office or apartment buildings are under construction, Warsaw has still kept wide streets lined with trees, spacious squares and plenty of parks.

The tours usually start with a visit to the Old Town and the Royal Castle. Then a walk from the castle to the old market square, surrounded by colorful houses (all rebuilt after WWII with the greatest attention to detail) and on along the old narrow streets will charm everyone. The Old Town, being on UNESCO's Worldwide Heritage list needs no further recommendation. The whole area is also full of historic houses and palaces of former Polish gentry - a real feast for anyone interested in history or architecture (or both). A visit to the Lazienki Park (with the palace of the last Polish king) and Wilanow - the Baroque residence of King Jan Sobieski III, with its magnificent park, will complete the tour along the so called Royal Route.
